All the 564 * ink cartridges come in regular and XL capacities. Overall Review: It uses a 5 ink cartridge system 564 black, 564 photo black, 564 magenta, 564 yellow, and 564 cyan. There are a few downsides takes about an hour to physically set it up, and several minutes to boot up if you turn it off and on a lot. The page scanner lid and the printer lid handles are close together (vertically) and you hands/fingers can get tactually confused as to which one you are opening. Print quality is good for photos, however very dark and very light colors are not very well distinguished even on the highest quality photo print outs. There is a multiple page feeder on top of the printer and a single page scanner lid to input documents.Ĭons: It's an ink hog like most printers, uses a lot of ink even when printing in "Fast Draft" mode. You can also initiate color or gray scans and black & white faxes from Linux as well, using any scanning program and HPLIP fax utility (respectively).

Ink levels, status, and full mantainance functions work from HPLIP, though it has an interactive display such that the printer is 100% computer-independent (works on its own). Works on Ubuntu Linux using the latest HPLIP, just plug it in via USB 2.0 and it's auto-detected. Pros: Prints borderless/full-bleed photos in multiple sizes. The print by email setup problems have been an issue, but overall I am impressed. Overall Review: I have had several MFPs lately and this one has out performed all of the BY FAR! The function has to be set up through HP's web site and it has not worked for me. The printer has it's own unique email address so you can print by remote from anywhere but I have not been able to make it work. The unit seems to churn away, cycling the print head around for quite a while before the first print spits out.
I have a nice digital camera but if you are like me and your iPhone is your go to device for instant candid shots, this printer is for you.Ĭons: Print speed is fast but the first page output is a bit slow. Once it was set up on my network I could instantly print straight from both iPads and both iPhones in the household. I especially love the Air Print capability. WLAN connection is easy to set up and seems to be the preferred option. The touch screen interface is very intuitive and responsive. The network apps are nice but I haven't needed them yet. Photos on 4圆 or 5x7 photo paper look every bit as good as old school film on chemical paper. Scans well, outputs very nice prints, even photos on standard 8.5x11 paper. You still have to wait for the printer to print the ink on the paper.Īs you can see, there really are no Cons to speak of. You have to load paper in it to print anything.

Although AirPrint is an Apple app, HP has an Android app that will do the same thing. You can actually print from anywhere you have access to email. You can give your printer it's own web address. Compare that to the price of the previous generation Photosmart ink cartridges.
Checkout the price on the tri-color combo box 564. These ink cartridges for the Photosmart printers are cheaper than they used to be. It took me longer to get it out of the box and plugged in than to set it up and get my first photo printed. The photos I have printed have looked better than what I get from Target and Wal-Mart's kiosks. Pros: -This is the best printer (along with the eCenter All-In-One) HP makes at his time.
